1. How are streams transmitted?

Windows Media Technology from Microsoft or Flash technology from Adobe are used to transmit data. These technologies permit continuous transmission of sound and moving images, while also permitting transmission of live events.

2. What software do I need to receive streams and to play the videos?

Online Congress preferably transmits streams via Windows Media Technology and Flash. Windows Media Player version 9.0 or higher and the actual Adobe Flash Player version must be installed to receive these streams. Windows Media Player is currently automatically bundled with all Microsoft operating systems.

3. Which players do I need?

Windows Media Player version 9.0 or higher as well as the Adobe Flash Player version 10 or higher must be installed to receive streams.

4. Why is the sound inconsistent or scratchy?

Ensure that you have the required media player installed on your computer. Moreover check that your speakers are turned up and connected. At least ensure that your internet connection is active.

5. Which browser can I use?

Correct display of streams in web pages requires particular demands on the browser. We recommend using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

6. Why can`t  I see the web content?

This problem may be occurred by your browser which may not be properly configured to view the chosen stream format (Flash / Windows Media). If you are using Internet Explorer, check your “Internet Options”. If you are using Firefox, check your “Applications” settings under “Options”.

7. Why can I not login to the presentation?

If you cannot login the presentation, the host may have created access control that applies to only a specific list of viewers. We recommend contacting the host directly.

8. Why does the corporate security system block the streams?

In company networks the Internet connection is protected by firewalls which only permit the transmission of particular content, such as web pages. These security systems can prevent the transmission of streams. Please contact your MIS department.

9. Why does my private firewall block the streams?

Private Internet connections often use proxy servers, which prevent the transmission of streams. In this case, you should deactivate the use of proxies in your Internet browser.
